Rules
for N.A.R.A. Championship Trials & COA Qualifications
RULES:
NARA
Championships must be held between the dates of September1, and
December 15th.
NARA Championship Qualifications
There
is a process known as the NARA Selectifs to qualify dogs for the NARA Championships. The
following criteria are for the NARA Selectifs and the NARA Championship.
A
dog competing for the title of NARA Champion must have been in the country and owned by
the current owner for 12 Months prior to the Championship. The owner of the dog does not
have to be the handler at the competitions; the same person must own the dog for 12 months
prior to the Championship to qualify. If the dog is an import, valid ownership shall be
proven by the date on the manifest from shipping. Proof of ownership and dates, if in
question, will be provided by S.C.C. or any nationally recognized registry's registration
papers or scorebook, which each competitor is responsible for providing to the officials
before the competition.
Presentation
of an official scorebook is required prior to competing and the only Ring titles
considered valid are the ones entered in this scorebook signed by a Licensed Judge.
Teams
that are not eligible to compete for the title of NARA Champion can still compete at the
Championship trial for the NARA Cup.
The
NARA Selectif season will be held between January 1st and August 31st.
Structure of the Selectif Trial
There will be one (1) Selectif
trial in EACH ZONE with the same jury traveling to each zone for the selectif
trials. Juries will be made up of a
recognized judge and 2 selected decoys. The process of choosing the decoys is explained in
the description of the NARA decoy Super Selection.
The NARA Board of Directors will
choose a Judge from the list of qualified Judges. The decoys will be chosen from the list
of qualifiers from the
Decoy Super-Selection.
During the Selectif, the level of
difficulty for decoy work and the level of difficulty in scoring shall be at a level that
is above a club trial but slightly less than a Championship trial (with respect to the
rules and regulations of Ring Sport). The safety of the competing dogs will always be a top
priority!
To qualify to compete for the title of NARA Champion,
teams must compete at a minimum of 2 club trials under 2 different Judges and one Selectif
trial preferably in the zone the team resides. The first Selectif trial that the team
enters will be the only one counted for the Championship average and only one of the
scores from the 2 club trials may be from a trial that is hosted by, or on the same
training or trial field of their own club.
The
title of NARA Grand Champion will be determined by using the scores of the Selectif
trial, 2 club trials and the score of the NARA Championship trial in the
following formula:
average (club trial score + club trial score)
+ NARA Selectif score + NARA Championship score
The team with the
highest score using the formula above for the 4 trials stated above will be the NARA Grand Champion.
NARA teams may use any 2 club trial scores under two different Judges from the
current year for the above formula; however, ONLY ONE of the scores may be from a trial
that is hosted by, or on the same training or trial field of their own club .

NARA Cup
The
Cup is a competition within the Championship. The Cup is open to any team from
any Region or country, which is a member in good standing in any SCC recognized or
affiliated Ring organization. The Dog must have a scorebook from any French Ring affiliated organization that is recognized
by the SCC/CUN. The Cup is awarded at Ring I, Ring II
and Ring III levels to the highest scoring teams at the Championship. The Cup Champion is
awarded to the highest scoring team from all three levels. It is possible for a team to
win both, the Championship and the Cup, but he/she must be a NARA member in good standing.
